Upon arrival in Cadiz you will enter Puerta Tierra. This is dividing line between modern and old Cadiz. Cadiz is a diverse city. On one side are the wide promenades, beaches and modern amrina offering sailing and other watersports and on the other side is the more historical quarter of Cadiz. The old town of El Populo and La Vina, the fishing district, give the chance to see a traditional Spanish old town which is still up and running and very popular with visitors.
The new Cathedral in Cadiz is in the Baroque style and the remains of the composer Manuel de Falla are buried here. Nearby are the old Cathedral and the Roman Theatre.
The centre of Cadiz is home to the Municipal Historical Museum and the Tavira Tower which are national monuments to the Liberal Constituation of 1812.
