Eidfjord is a typical Norwegian port town, offering high mountains, glaciers, lakes and valleys. Over 95 percent of Eidfjords land is more than 600 metres metres above sea level. Located within Eidfjord is Norway’s largest national park and Hardangervidda which is Europe’s largest mountain plateau.
Being mainly mountainous, Eidfjord offers some brilliant hiking paths like the one to the Kjeasen mountain farm which takes about 2 hours to reach but presents some spectacular scenic views across the fjords.
Closer to the town centre are the Viking graves datin from the Iron Age and the Viking periods. Located on the Hæreid plateau, the 250 graves are part of a fantastic cultural landscape.
The spectacular scenery continues with the National park complete with a waterfall with a vertical fall of 145 metres!
