Scrabster is a small settlement located on Thurso Bay in Caithness on the north coast of Scotland. Scrabster is also mainland Scotland's most northerly town. Scrabster Harbour is an important port for the Scottish fishing industry. Not surprisingly, there are countless fresh fish outlets to be found in and around the whole area.
Scrabster was for several decades, the port of choice for the British Queen and her family when they disembarked from the Royal Yacht Britannia, on their way to visit the Queen Mother at her Highland holiday home, Castle of Mey. Today it is possible to follow in their footsteps, as the Castle is now open to visitors. The Highlands of Scotland with its breathtaking scenery has now been popular with the Royal family for more than 50 years.
