Soufriere is a small town located on the Southwest coast of Saint Lucia in the West Indies. It was the former capital of Saint Lucia during times of French rule, and was alsoa thriving sugar producing area until it was ravished by the French Revolution. Nowadays it is a small sleepy fishing port.
One of the islands natural wonders is the nearbyPitons World Heritage Site. Here the two volcanoes rise dramatically from the coral reef beds of the sea. The Sulphur Springs, boiling pools of dark mineral and a constant release of pressure from the molten subterranean activity, make for an interesting visit. There are also several picturesque waterfalls in the area along with snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities. The towering twin volcanoes dominate the landscape. The Pitons, which are now dormant volcanoes, are one of the most famous landmarks in the whole of the Caribbean.
