Ullapool is a picturesque fishing village, and is nestled on the shores of Lochbroom, one hour North of Loch Ness. To the north of Ullapool is the fantastic area of Sutherland and Caithness where some of the landscapes will make you feel that you are on another planet, not just another country. Wild and rugged yet it also offers the gently rolling countryside and many quaint unspoiled villages, hamlets and historical locations.
The centre of Ullapool has a museum which is housed within a restored Thomas Telford Parliamentary Church being originally built in 1829. The Museum depicts the story of Lochbroom, along with crofting, fishing, emigration and the history of Ullapool and its surrounding areas. Ullapool has an array of restaurants, shops, cafes, bars, live entertainment, sea fishing, loch fishing and also offers deer stalking.
